The SC Dept of Commerce makes announcements all the time about a variety of new industries establishing new operations or expanding operations. (They like to locate in close proximity of interstates and without Interstate 73, Dillon, Horry, Marion, and Marlboro Counties are standing still.)

January 1 2021 to February 28, 2022, During the last 14 Months:

The SC Dept of Commerce announced at least 17,113 jobs came to, or are coming to South Carolina with companies.
$4,824,470,000 investment dollars came to, or is coming to South Carolina:

Dillon County - ZERO - Not mentioned once. No jobs. No Investment Dollars.
Horry County - One project. One bone for our county. (Wild West of MB, Inc, 40 jobs. $2,500,000 Investment Dollars)
Marion County - One project. One bone. (Soltice Sleep Products, Inc. 80 jobs. No Investment Dollars indicated.)
Marlboro County - ZERO - Not mentioned once. No jobs. No Investment Dollars

Some like to compare Horry County and the Myrtle Beach area to Charleston and Greenville:

Charleston - 3,213 Jobs, $113,562,000 Investment Dollars - I-26 and a Port of Charleston
Greenville - 1,777 Jobs, $148,735,000 Investment Dollars - Easy Access to I-85, I-185, and I-385

Companies, in something other than tourism, do locate in close proximity to interstates. That is a fact that is proven in the data. It is time the pattern changes course and it’s time to Build I-73 in South Carolina!

In one year’s time (between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021), they made 107 Company Announcements which brought, or is bringing at least 4,177 jobs and over three trillion investment dollars with them.

Dillon County got nothing.
Marion County got one project.
Marlboro County got nothing.
Horry County got two projects.

This is a pattern that has gone on too long, and missing out on thousands and thousands of jobs, new opportunities, decent pay, and economic advancement for our large and small businesses, and our people must stop.

The companies in the SC Dept of Commerce News bring jobs and investment dollars, and it’s time the Grand Strand and Pee Dee Region get their interstate and move forward with the rest of the world and other regions in our beautiful state. Real transportation progress of our Interstate System, decent-paying jobs in other industries, and travel safety and efficiency are a must! I-73 in SC is THE WIN-WIN road project - FOR THE PEOPLE!

I-73 in South Carolina Equals Jobs and New Industry.
The majority of larger companies with year-round, decent-paying jobs, benefits, and large sums of investment dollars locate by Interstates, Ports, and Rails. Currently, our nearest interstate is an hour to an hour and a half, away. IT IS TIME THAT CHANGES.

People should not have to work multiple jobs to support their families, or worry when the height of the tourist season is over as to whether or not they will have a job. Our college students should not have to move away to get a decent job in something other than tourism, and Marlboro County deserves better as well.

People deserve opportunities and a better quality of life, and I73 is a chain reaction for progress, in addition to being safe, efficient roadway, free of traffic lights.

(I find it funny we have hypocrites who like to jump on their interstates to fight against ours.)
