What can i say?
My bumper sticker wasn’t working.
The Build I-73 in SC Car
has been on the move for you - the people!
Never in a million years would I have dreamed I would end up doing what I did and what I’m doing again. It wasn’t planned and sometimes…you just have to move.
This all started in August of 2019 when I read some news about I-73 that shocked me. Our county council and some of our municipalities were dropping the ball on the most important piece of infrastructure, one already permitted. The same night was a Horry County Council meeting and I showed up in an old I-73 t-shirt and hardhat, carrying a construction-worker-style cooler, and went right to the County Council Meeting. At that time all I had on my car was an I-73 bumper sticker. I-73 was lined up for infrastructure funding and they were putting our interstate funding in jeopardy, and I knew it, but at that time I didn’t know why. (I later found out exactly what had transpired.)
From there, I went began printing homemade signs on my printer and taped them to the windows of my mom’s old car, a 2004 Toyota Camry. Then one day a dear friend suggested I get a car wrap. No, it wasn’t cheap, but I’m hoping it will be the best money I’ve ever spent in my life!
My I-73 journey has been filled with ups and downs, and sometimes I just want to throw my hands up in the air and quit, but they forced me to come back out and into action recently (Feb 2023).
I will stand up for our piece of the interstate and our non-stop hurricane evacuation route from Myrtle Beach to I-95.
I will stand up for the most important road project ever permitted for the Myrtle Beach area.
We have waited DECADES for our interstate! DECADES!
We’ve been through the permitting process and our residents and visitors matter! They matter!
I-73 in South Carolina is a permitted project. BUILD IT and in the meantime take care of our existing roads!
(STAY TUNED AND I WILL UPDATE THIS PAGE ASAP.)
My first road trip in 2020 was to the June 18, 2020 SCDOT Meeting. Click here to view it.
