July 15, 2024 Update - Interstate 73 in SC has been through the environmental battle and it’s time the construction shovels finally go in the dirt in SC!
The environmental groups don’t go away…they just change their names and try to stand in the way of your safety.
Now we have the Winyah Rivers Alliance walking into local meetings and being vocal, another group getting promoted by the media and probably getting lots of funding to stand in the way of the safety and progress of our PEOPLE.

Feb 17, 2023 Update - Even though the financially-powerful Coastal Conservation League (CCL) lost the I-73 federal lawsuit in 2021, they are at it again and they are working hard against all of our local new road projects, now pitting our flooding issues against road projects.
The CCL and the Southern Environmental Law Center have played a huge role in our now-clogged local roads in the Myrtle Beach area - a dangerous game played for years against the safety and economic progress of our people.
Every time I-73 picks up speed you will notice they go into action to send you in a new direction. They also insert representatives into our local meetings.
It’s time they focus on a different region and if they want to concentrate on something near Myrtle Beach, then the Atlantic Coast offshore drilling fight is definitely a legitimate and important fight for our area.
Accidents are happening on all of our roads going in and out of Myrtle Beach thanks to many of their efforts for many years.
How’s that working out for us?
Note:
The Coastal Conservation League (CCL) office is located minutes away from an interstate (quite hypocritical don’t ya think) in Charleston, South Carolina, and now they have added a Beaufort, South Carolina office.)
Make sure to check out the CCL’s financials and the SELC’s financials as well. (they get the big, big bucks to fight against any and all new road projects and not only Interstate 73.
